BrowserPreview tmp3 600x400 SOUNDWALK + DALINE JABBOUR PERFORMANCE IN BEIRUT

The Rub Al Khali desert, or ‘Empty quarter’, is one of the largest sand deserts in the world, encompassing most of the southern part of the Arabian peninsula, including parts of the UAE, Oman, Yemen and Saudi Arabia.
In October, the Soundwalk collective made a one-month travel across this desert of silence, recording hours of hertzian frequencies as well as songs, prayers and sounds of the sand and wind.

Before presenting “Eternal Hell” at the opening of Abu Dhabi’s Art, Talks & Sensations Art Fair, Soundwalk will be playing live this thursday in Beirut, Lebanon, at Zico House, for an exclusive performance, with great traditional arabic singer and improviser Daline Jabbour as a special guest !

Our house in Beirut is located exactly between three Mosques. According to which balcony or window you will head to, you will hear one or the other, or a combination of the three.
This is a recording of the third daily prayer time, the Dhuhr, on Sunday morning, from the balcony in the back. The image shows the view.

ROYAL MONCEAU SERIES – ELEVATING SOUND

F1000002 1 ROYAL MONCEAU SERIES ELEVATING SOUNDPhoto : Hadley Hudson

Just a week after the opening of Le Royal Monceau – Raffles Hotel in Paris, we explore today the creation and production of the elevator’s sound environment by Soundwalk.

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

We selected short excerpts of poems written by famous French poets such as Apollinaire, Baudelaire, Prévert and Verlaine and created a subtle and elegant sound environment to surround Charles Berling’s voice like a jew box. Crystal sounds as well as deep and velvety low frequencies enshroud the actor’s voice in a sober manner, emphasizing on the text and its interpretation, rather than illustrating it.

SOUNDWALK DESIGNS ROYAL MONCEAU SOUNDSCAPE

bg SOUNDWALK DESIGNS ROYAL MONCEAU SOUNDSCAPE

Soundwalk is proud to announce its collaboration with Parisian Hotel Le Royal Monceau – Raffles on the hotel’s new sound environment. One of Paris’ most iconic and historic hotels, Le Royal Monceau had been closed since June 2008 and has undergone significant refurbishment under a creative team that includes Philippe Starck.

“The hotel which features an art library, recording facilities for musicians and visual artists, a state-of-the art screening room, a personal art concierge and design art make it the first hotel in a new generation of Parisian palaces. Le Royal Monceau is envisioned as a dream come true, the realisation of somewhere different amid the familiar beauty of Paris; a place where new energy awakens history; where art lives among hospitality”.

Soundwalk has been commissioned to conceive and produce an innovative sound environment for the entire hotel, offering various atmospheres tailored to each area, from the hall and elevator to the guest-rooms, restaurant and bar.

Le Royal Monceau reopens its doors after extensive renovations on Monday, October 18.
