Audio extract from 9’11″ by Soundwalk Collective, a two-movement composition based upon the September 11th, 2001 attack on the World Trade Center.

Movement One is a journey with an actual New York firefighter on location from the first plane hit, to the fall of the last tower. Movement Two is the enormous silence following the final collapse.  It was the closing of the 20th century. All the sounds you hear around you now, belong to the 21st.

Soundwalk Collective is back in the studio and in the next phase of creating Medea, the new sonic work based on this summer’s recording voyage around the Black Sea.  The Collective is in the process performing a series of live sessions using the raw recordings of voices, distant melodies, and distorted memories.  Here is the second excerpt, untouched and straight to tape!
